Our Research

Without your very kind contributions we would not be able to support research that ultimately benefits us all.

It is people that deliver innovative research and the Medical and Life Sciences Research Fund continues to support bright exceptional young scientists and medics through our bursary scheme and to expand the areas of research in line with our capabilities and need. Areas of research that have been undertaken include new treatments and diagnosis of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infection, kidney disease, neurological disorders and viruses. Research projects are examined by a scientific committee and subject to peer review by experts in the field.

We maintain close links with the University with the object of funding high calibre research through our continuing commitment to Warwick University and the regional health care services.

Applications for funding are accepted in response to funding calls.

The Medical and Life Sciences Research Fund invites you to apply for funding from their Training Bursary scheme.

This scheme is to supplement funding for new projects of timeliness and promise initiated by research scientists and clinicians at an early stage of their career in the areas of medical, biomedical and agricultural research, including agri-food, crop improvement, environmental science and agri-tech.

The total requested grant should not exceed £10,000 (including VAT) and will be made available as a single payment.

In all cases we require the applicant to have two supervisors. The two supervisors should be clinicians or scientists and at least one should be an academic member of staff.

As part of the selection process the applicant may be asked to make a presentation to Medical and Life Sciences Research Fund committee members.

Successful applicants would be expected to support the Medical and Life Sciences Research Fund by being prepared to present work in progress to our supporters.

Completed application forms should be e-mailed as scanned in PDF files to charityadmin@mlsrf.co.uk.  The closing date for applications is at the end of Friday, 9th May 2025.
